hulu is a free video-on-demand service from NBC Universal and News Corp. It’s still in private beta. For months now, I have been waiting for an invite. I finally got one last week.
First of all, the video quality is damn near HD. And it’s streaming, which is the amazing part. I have seen other streaming HD sites, and this looks just as good, if not better.
The video player itself is impressive too. It has your regular embed and full screen buttons, but also features a dim control, which grays out the white space on your screen for better viewing.
hulu also aggregates related videos at the bottom. It’s funny how new video sites model the user experience of YouTube. It’s actually pretty smart.
The selection of shows is great too. I was surprised to see Fox shows on here. For so long, I thought it was strictly an NBC venture. I think that CBS and ABC will need to spend some time researching the idea of merging to compete with hulu.
From what I’ve seen so far, hulu is a winner.
