The Cell Phone of the Future

Apple is a revolutionary entity. In 1984, they introduced the first real personal computer, the Macintosh. In 2001, it was the iPod. Now, in 2007, behold the iPhone. Pending a lawsuit from Cisco on the trademark, the iPhone will be released in June of this year.

iPhone

Apple has filed over 200 patents related to the technology behind iPhone. To unlock the phone, all you do is slide your finger from left to right. It won’t turn on in your pocket.

It has an accelerometer, which detects the phone rotation to change the display orientation.

One of my favorite things about the iPhone is that it only has one button, right on the bottom, called “Home”. Everything else is touch screen.

This is the Home interface. Really sharp. Looks like you also have the ability to add more icons too.

The iPhone is very easy to use. When you put it near your ear, the screen goes black so you can’t interfere with the call. It’s really easy to have a conference call too.

Dialpad is huge.

The iPhone runs Mac OS X! I couldn’t believe that. The graphics are spectacular, and you can play around with your photos like no other.

A Safari web browser!? Incredible.

For the first time, you can view webpages on your phone just as you would on your computer. Are mobile stylesheets becoming obsolete before they are ever really implemented?

This is so cool… you can pinch or tweeze the screen with your fingers to zoom in or out.

A new Google Maps interface comes standard on the phone. This new gadget really takes advantage of Google’s web services, like no other device has before.

You can zoom in a little more with the Satellite view. There’s the Monument.

Of course it has WiFi.

June 2007, you can get it. I think it’s worth it… Better have Cingular though :)

If I were you, I’d watch Steve Jobs’ keynote. Click here or above.

If you goto http://www.apple.com/iPhone, you can see some Flash demos too. What will Apple do in five more years? I will write about the new AppleTV next time I post.
