A genuine Silicon Valley Web Flyer | One line of code at a time...

I like her, but I’m not in like with her

Have you ever had a crush on someone, but you weren’t sure how to get the message across to them? Back in the old days, we would play a game with the girls we had crushes on, sending them notes with the question, “Do you like me? Please choose Yes, No or Maybe”. Well, it’s a little more complicated now, but the game is a little easier.

iminlikewithyou.com is a social networking site that throws you a bag of coins and an empty form. You can only get access to the site if you are invited by someone, and that person is your sole contact when you log in for the first time. You are supposed to create “games” and bid on other people’s games. When the bidding is over, you have a choice of the top 5 bidders to be your contact.

A game is another way for you to find out about your audience. There are questions like, “What are your uncommon turn-ons?”, or “What musical artist do you like that most people will probably make fun of you for?”

You can get money by answering simple yes or no type questions too. It’s like the website is learning about you so it can pitch you to a suitable match. It’s a pretty cool site, but I am not sold on it yet. Maybe I just want more money?

The site is designed really nicely, and there are some sound effects in the background while you browse. The site is also aesthetically pleasing. This is no Facebook or MySpace… there is more of a challenge to meet people.

This is a video from Jason Calacanis interviewing the co-founder of the site. He says some good stuff about this new service.

Leave me some comments if you want an invite to the site.

  • Interesting interview with the founder. For anyone like me who doesn't have an invite, you can get guest access to iminlikewithyou using the code "giga." Even if you aren't interested in the flirting stuff, it's worth checking out for the unique interface. It's of the slickest, smoothest designs I've played with.

(Obligatory shameless grovel: I'd be stocked if you could hook me up with one of your invites.)

This looks sweet but i cant get in without an invite! I really wanna check it out tho. Could i get ona those invites?
  • DOH! The risks of late night commenting... I assume I meant that I would be *stoked* and not *stocked* for an invite. I'm trying to think of something witty I could be "stocked" with, but I'm not coming up with anything.

I would love an invite, if you have any extra.

BTW, I found your blog searching for "i'm in like with you." on google blog search. Nice layout. I would have swore it was drupal, if it wasn't for the wordpress link at the bottom.

it's pretty flippin sweet the technology and websites now. I have fallin in love with twitter.

I watched the links you had below about windows 95 and I totally remember when I got my first computer. It was one of the Mac's that I could play munchers on. It was amazing. You don't get games like that nowadays.
