Something might be wrong with me. My dream sequences go through imaginary Firefox browsers. I am always thinking about publishing my life online. Maybe cuz it’s so easy?
First thing this morning, I quickly added about which only took about 5 minutes.
Then I went into Flickr Uploadr, and there. I spent about 20 minutes giving every photo a creative title and desciption, and then I hit upload.
I am writing this blog post while I wait for the upload to finish (about 5 minutes left).
I feel like as we progress through time, capturing your life and archiving it will become more commonplace. I can imagine that when I have a child, I will set aside a special folder on my computer with his name on it. That will be his running lifestream. I may even reserve his full name for a Twitter account
Joseph Smarr of Plaxo gave a talk a few weeks ago, and explained that we are moving towards an era when people will be using the Internet more for interpersonal communication than anything else. It’s so easy to connect to people, interact with them, and share stuff with em.
I am going to send this photoset to my Aunt Debbie so she can see how much my Mom is enjoying San Francisco. This whole operation of tagging and uploading photos is taking me less than 30 minutes. Five years ago, it would have taken hours. Ten years ago, it would have taken a day to upload 61 4000×3000 pixel high-res photos. Today, it’s a breeze.
I am very thankful for social media, and I will continue to both study and define it as our Internet society matures.
It was nice to get away from the computer for a little while though.
