In my generation, we all grew up with an NES in the house. And I bet every single one of you has played a Mario game before. Well it doesn’t surprise me that 21 years after the middle-aged Italian plummer was born, he is still one of the most popular video game characters around.
I was reading this Washington Post article and I had to write about it. There have been cooler video game characters, like Sonic, Mega Man, Donkey Kong, even Battletoads, but none of them have the longevity of Mario and Luigi. When Nintendo releases its new console, the Wii, I will be tempted to buy one just because I wanna try out their newest Mario game.
It might be the 51% Italian in me, but I still respect Mario and his everlasting adventures through the Mushroom Kingdom. How could you not like a guy who jumps on a flower and gets firepower?
