Old Crow Medicine Show

Radford University Appalachian Events Committee (www.radford.edu/~arsc/aec.htm) presents Old Crow Medicine Show. The group (www.crowmedicine.com) was most recently featured on Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion All-Star New Year's Eve Special" and on the soundtrack for the motion picture "Transamerica." Music of the five-piece band is described as "old-time meets rock."   They have released five full-length albums and members individually collaborated on 11 albums including a compilation album from the Bonnaroo music festival.

George Jones & Heartland

George Jones is an American country music artist known for his distinctive voice and phrasing that evoke raw emotions of grief, unhappy love, and emotional hardship. Relatively unknown for a decade, Heartland signed with Lofton Creek Records in 2006. "I Loved her First" was the song that skyrocketed them to national fame in 2006

Liz Carroll and John Doyle

Separately, they are geniuses of their instruments exciting performers and composers who take the tradition of Irish music in daring, inventive, new directions. Together, Liz Carroll (www.lizcarroll.com) & John Doyle (www.johndoylemusic.com) have combined their talents into dynamic live stage shows and recordings including their first as a duet, which was released in 2005 on Compass Records. Chicago-born Liz has been amazing audiences with her fiddle ever since she won the Senior All-Ireland Championship at the age of 18.   An extraordinary acoustic guitarist as well as an accomplished singer and songwriter, John can be heard accompanying many top Irish artists and has performed on such film and TV soundtracks as "The Brothers McMullen" and "Out of Ireland."
