A genuine Silicon Valley Web Flyer | One line of code at a time...

Hello World.

Okay, it’s time to really start blogging. I asked myself a while back, “Who is my audience in this blog?”

The answer is simple… it’s you… or anyone that wants to read what I have to say. Granted, I am not an expert (yet), but I feel like spending over 10 hours a day online has enlightened my sense of technology.

How does one write a good blog? Well, I have looked at other successful blogs and I have come to the conclusion that you need three things to keep an audience:

  1. Update daily - This is very important. You can’t keep an audience if you don’t have something interesting to say every day.

  2. Be conversational - Let’s face it, the web is not just about reading and clicking anymore. It’s about participation. User-driven content owns websites from your bank’s online portal, to eBay, to The Facebook, even to this blog. Conversation isn’t one way either. If you blog entry recieves a lot of comments, either good or bad, you must be doing something right, because people are passionate about what they read.

  3. Finally, say something different - This could be the toughest of all. Every blog is different, but some just include the same stupid rant in a different tone of voice. A good blog has to provide unique content.

Okay, pause. What is this blog even about? Well, I told you before that I spend hours and hours online. I am not just looking at dirty pictures (most of the time), I am searching for new technologies. Sites like digg, del.icio.us, and TechCrunch really excite me, so I might be using those sites as references.

Okay, that’s enough for today. I promise I will be back tomorrow.

P.S. This site will look better in the near future. I am going with a bare bones template until I redo it.

Update (12/25/2007): The URL on this post might say “hello-world-2″. That’s because I imported this post from my old Blogger blog. Here is what the original Hello World said on this blog:

This is my blog…. I started it kinda late, but it’s official. This time I am not quitting.

Here was my first attempt at it:

That’s kinda scary.
