Yesterday was a sad day in Philly. I grew up in a media environment where stories of fan anguish flood 6:00 p.m. newscasts if Andy Reid sneezes. Moving our signature personality to the American League, let alone the studded Yankees? I can imagine how South Street was last night, even on a Monday.
The Philadelphia Daily News put Bobby on the front and back cover of their newspaper yesterday, but in retrospect, Philadelphia fans are not angry at the Phillies organization. After all the cheesesteaks and beers are consumed this season, we will be hopeful for the next, cuz that’s what we’re used to doing. 23 years now since a national championship in any major sport, and the drought just brings more promise.
I can see how fans are happy that we dished off Terrell Owens to Dallas, because when we play against him, we will be ready for revenge. When the Phillies play the Yankees next year, and Abreu steps up to the plate at Citizen’s Bank Park, very few fans will boo. We will forever love Bobby because of his longevity. T.O. jumped ship after a few unproductive seasons. Bobby stuck it out.

Bye, Bye, Bobby
