A day to remember for baseball and computers

Early this morning, Apple released it’s new iMac. I don’t need to explain the specs, but I see it as the absolute best personal computer on the market right now.

Apple iMac

When I heard about Apple’s blitzkrieg press conference this morning, I got really excited. For once, Apple hadn’t intentionally hyped up a product release. From watching Engadget’s coverage, I saw all I needed to see. I felt like I was there just by glancing at the computer screen for a few minutes.

And, whether you like it or not, Barry Bonds hit his 756th homerun, and now he sits at the top of the record books.

“We all can’t play the same sport,” said Bonds at his post game press conference.

He really summed it up in that statement. As he smiles on camera, whether he used steroids or not, he jokes about his father, and he throws jabs back at the aggressive media. I never thought much of Bonds, but I like the way he handles himself. He has a lot of heritage in baseball.

He mentions some of his idols in the press conference:

  • Bill Cosby
  • Muhammad Ali
  • Magic Johnson
  • Willie Mays
  • Michael Jordan

He says that these idols were “there for him”. I think that he really just wants to be successful.

Being in San Francisco, I am among a biased fan base. The people here bow down to Bonds, and honestly, tonight, I finally respect him.

On the other hand, the Giants lost the game. When I was at the gym tonight watching the game, I didn’t see Bonds in the last few innings at all. Where was he?
